170 years ago Eta Carinae exploded violently and shot out a cloud of debris out at 20 million mph(32 million kph) but left the star intact. Turns out it’s a binary star system and the larger of the 2 stars is set to go supernova in the next 1000 years. The cloud is known as the Homunculus Nebula via /r/spaceporn https://ift.tt/30ihn2P
